Course Objectives

.

To understand the Job Role of a Lorry Loader operator.
Pre-Start Checks on the Machine.
Correct Start-Up Produces on the Machine.
Functional Checks on the Machine.
Configure the Vehicle and Loader ready for Safe operations.
Correct Manoeuvring in confined spaces.
Position and configure the Vehicle and Loader Crane for lifting duties.
Safe use of the vehicles stabilisers.
Comply with rated capacity indictors or Load Moment Indicators for lifting duties.
To identify load centres and weight of the loads.
To Understand the Underground, Overhead Services and surrounding Hazards.
Lift various loads using the full radius and slewing capabilities of the Lorry loader crane.
To place loads accurately at designated positions including on/into and from the vehicle.
Explain the use of the different types and the fitting of boom extensions.
Minimise the swinging of loads.
Secure loads on or in the vehicle.
To understand the Safe Working areas.
Correct Shutdown and Locking Procedures of the Machine..

CPCS Red Trained Operator Card

You will need to complete the following to gain a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card

Pass the relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment test.
Have the Relevant Training on the Particular Plant Machinery
Achieve the CPCS theory test (within two years of the CITB health, safety and environment test)
Achieve the CPCS practical test (within six months of the CPCS theory test and within two years of the CITB health, safety and environment test).

Both CPCS theory and practical tests are delivered by an approved CPCS test centre. The test centre will apply for the card.
